Greater Anderson Promotes Peace (GAPP) will host a Vigil for Peace from 7:00-7:30 PM on Wednesday, August 5, at the Peace Pole in Beech Acres Park, 6910 Salem Ave. in Anderson Township.
Cincinnati, Charleston, and many other US cities have been rocked by racial violence this year. We feel at a loss for what to do, and where to turn. But when we come together from our varied traditions, we are empowered to lift our voices and prayers together, and to reach out to each other in friendship and mutual respect,” says GAPP Executive Director Louise Lawarre. "This is how we can start to make a difference, no matter how small it may seem."
Everyone is invited to bring a song, meditation, reading, prayer or just bring yourself. Readings will be interspersed with moments for silent reflection. This might be the moment when your inner poet or song-writer finds its voice, so feel free to bring an original piece. All are welcome to linger afterwards to get acquainted. The Peace Pole is located in the west side of the park, near the RecPlex.
